Bjorg Gudjonsdottir

Bjorg Gudjonsdottir is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Iceland, where she has been involved in teaching and curriculum development since 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Iceland (1983) and a Master of Science in Human Movement Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1998).With over 40 years of experience as a licensed physical therapist, she specializes in pediatric physiotherapy and has worked extensively in clinical practice, including leadership roles in pediatric outpatient services in Iceland.
Gudjonsdottir has contributed significantly to the academic and clinical development of physiotherapy in Iceland. She played a pivotal role in transitioning the physical therapy program at the University of Iceland to a five-year master’s degree program and has actively participated in interdisciplinary projects, including the development of a stride simulator for children with disabilities. Her research focuses on pediatric movement control and the integration of evidence-based practice in physiotherapy education. Gudjonsdottir has also served on various national and international committees, contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, and earned recognition for her innovations, including several awards for her contributions to physiotherapy, assistive technology development and teaching.
